We tested many USB WI-FI adapters and found this one to be the BEST by far. It had the best performance in terms of signal quality and also with the most number of visible Access Points (routers) many of which were open to connect to. We even compared this adapter to the expensive 500mw ALFA USB adapter and found almost no difference between the two during actual use.

Most wireless USB adapters, PCMCIAA Wifi cards and internal Laptop Wifi adapters have a built in mini antennas that do not do a good job of distant reception and we were very frustrated by poor signal quality at free Wifi access at hotels an airports. With this adapter the reception was more than twice as good and in some cases even three rimes better. The external 5 dBi antenna makes a BIG difference. Even more powerful external antennas can be used with the adapter including magnetic mount auto rooftop versions or internal directional antennas
